I like walking down London Streets. My favorite one is Covent Garden. It's a market place, which is very busy on Saturdays and Sundays. You could have a real bargain then. It's one of the most beautiful places on Christmas. Besides you can come across some street jugglers and street performers and eat some national street food. When you need to meet a friend somewhre in London, it's the best place, because, firstly, it's in the centre of London, secondly, you can always find something to see there while waiting for your friend. What is your favorite street? Why do you like it?

My favorite street in London is Oxford Street heart . I think it’s one of the most famous shopping streets in Europe. It has a lot of shops and stores (about 300): from small to big ones like Selfridges, or John Lewis. I like to go shopping on Oxford Street with my mom. When we get tiered we eat a sandwich and drink a cup of tea in one of the cafes on Oxford Street icecream . There are many places to eat there! Or we go to famous squares, which are situated near Oxford Street. There you can find a lot of gassy areas with benches to sit on and relax tongue . A greatnumber of popular and famed streets cross or go parallel with Oxford Street. For example, Regent Street or Piccadilly Circus. There you will find historic buildings, museums. What I also like about Oxford Street is that in Christmas Eve it’s decorated with festive lights, like many other famous streets in London santa . The street looks wonderful and magical lighted up with many lights of different colour. If you love night life Oxford Street is a place for you! There are a lot of pubs, bars and nightclubs with music playing on and on. Sometimes famous singers perform there, so there is a good chance for you to bump into a celebrity or two while you're on Oxford Street batman !

My favourite street in London is Portobello Road. This is one of the most interesting and attractive streets of the town. It runs almost the length of Notting Hill from south to north. A lot of people from all over the world come here for shopping and sightseeing. On the street there are many different shops. At the weekend you can listen to the live music played by the musicians. This street is also famous for its market.   It is called Portobello Market. You can enjoy fresh fruit and vegetables just brought from the countryside. The main market day for antiques is Saturday. This is a good opportunity for those who are interested in buying something special for example handmade things like jewelries, pictures, furniture, crockery etc.
My mother and I like to walk and buy something there. There are a lot of popular pubs and restaurants where you can try traditional English food and drinks. Portobello Road stretches for around two miles and on a crowded Saturday afternoon it takes quite a while to walk from end to end. There is Electric cinema here. It is one of the first buildings in Britain to be designed specifically for the purpose of displaying motion pictures. You can enjoy current and older movies. Every year during the August Bank Holiday weekend London celebrates Europe’s biggest street festival – Notting Hill Carnival. I want to see it very much! One well-known film starring by Julia Roberts was made on Portobello Road. Everybody who visits London for the first time comes to see this street. It is a popular destination for Londoners and tourists alike. Also a lot of famous people visit Portobello
Market throughout a year. biggrin

It is my first visit to London. I went for an excursion to Big Ben. When I was in Moscow, I had read about the famous London streets. I was particularly interested in Baker Street (City of Westminster). I liked it that Baker Street is known in connection with the famous personage of Arthur Conan Doyle detective Sherlock Holmes. According to the author, the great detective lived on this street, in the house 221B, which in reality did not exist. I learned about Sherlock Holmes from the films, but I want to read the book of Conan Doyle. In Moscow, I watched the TV series Sherlock Holmes with actor Vasiliy Livanov. The British people recognized him as the best Holmes. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has awarded Vasily Livanov  with the rank of Chevalier Order of the Empire. An interesting fact is that the street is named after builder William Becker, paved it in the 8th century. There is  the Subway station on the street with the same name. This is the first underground station in the world! It was opened in 1863 year. When I go to this street,  I visit the Sherlock Holmes Museum. It's interesting that the museum was opened in 1990. And the ficton personage of the novel has a real home today.  At the same time I  visit Madame Tussaud`s museum. There I took a picture of a wax figure of Putin. I went to the store, dedicated to the famous group called the Beates.  My parents like their songs. As I saw everything with my own eyes, I will remember these forever.

There are many interesting and beautiful streets in London. I really like Trafalgar square. I think that it is known to many people from all over the world.  yes  There are two fountains there and a statue to Admiral Nelson. I find it very interesting that usually different statues stand there and over some period of time they change. The statues are devoted to people who have accomplished a feat.  I like to go there every year to see a concert that is dedicated to Maslenitsa. At that time there are many different stands where you can taste traditional Russian pancakes and try out some of the traditional costumes or even, if you want, get one for yourself! On that concert some famous Russian singers and dancers come to London to perform. Even though some years the weather is very cold, the atmosphere keeps you warm! up I also like it very much because of the National Gallery that is situated there. It is free to go in and you can enjoy a lot of different paintings written by famous people. I also know a very tempting fact about Trafalgar Square. I think it would be very interesting for you to find it out! The square was once famous for its pigeons, and feeding them was a popular activity. However as time passed their droppings disfigured stonework. In 2005 the sale of bird seed in the square was stopped and other measures were introduced to discourage the pigeons. eek
